The School Collapsed in Haiti Due To Poor Construction!
The death toll is climbing in Port-au-Prince,Haiti.A school collapsed killing at least 80 students. This terrible tragedy was the result of a structural defect, not the result of the natural disasters that have hit Haiti. Here's an excerpt from MSNBC:
"The concrete building's third story was still under construction, and Petionville's mayor told The Associated Press she suspects a structural defect caused the collapse, not the recent chain of tropical storms that swept devastation across Haiti.
Police commissioner Francene Moreau says the minister who runs the church-operated school could face criminal charges. Efforts to reach the preacher were not successful.(END OF EXCERPT) Read the rest here; http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27595445
Due to the extreme poverty in Haiti, there are more buildings that may be facing the same fate. Hopefully, there will not be anymore calamities like this. If this could have been prevented by the minister who runs that school, he should be charged accordingly. The article also stated that those who lived downhill from the school left their land because they feared the school would collapse on them. Then, it goes on to reveal that the school's owner tried to buy the abandoned properties. If that's true, the school's owner needs to face criminal charges as well. My prayers go out to the victims & their families. What a horrific calamity!

While We Fight For Gay Marriage In America, Gays Fight For The Right To Be Gay In Jamaica!
Even California said yes on Proposition 8 which suprised many pundits. Folks still believe that marriage should remain between a man & woman. There have been a lot of protests & anger behind this decision. Even Rachel Maddow gave a little commentary on the subject. She felt that gays still are not being respected. Ms. Maddow made the point that medical marijuana is now available in more states but gay marriage is not.It probably won't be of much consolation to those who wanted the law to pass, but it could have been worse.
In Jamaica, there are no gay couples kissing & strolling hand-in-hand down the streets for all to see. Any homosexual activity is done in total secrecy. The freedom to express your true sexualtiy is nonexistent. For if you do broadcast your sexual inclination, you may be killed. If you're lucky, an angry mob may just beat you to death. Many gay Jamaicans that love their country eventually move to the U.S or the U.K. because they're tired of being in the closet. It may take awhile to ease the general public into adapting a broader view of what marriage means & gay marriage wil eventually be just another fact of life. Hopefully, Jamaica will accept gays as just another part of their population instead of treating them like lepers. Look at the Prime Minister Of Jamaica, Bruce Golding, in this video. He discusses the Jamaican viewpoint on homosexuality.
Babies In Kenya Are Being Named After Barack Obama!
The admiration of Barack Obama has inspired some Kenyan mothers to name their babies after Michelle & Barack Obama. They hope that some of his traits & intelligence will rub off on their children. The video contains the full report & interviews with some of those Kenyan mothers. It is a good thing to see just how much hope that Barack Obama gives the world. He has already begun the arduous task of changing the opinion of America which is one of scorn & disdain. People around the world are once again inspired by America. Everyone wants to see what he will change. How about asking what's the next thing he'll transform? Because he's already amending the world's view of America before he's even taken office.
