Anna Madgigine Jai Kingsley Was Said To Have Been An African Princess That Owned Slaves!

This is a remarkable book that tells the story of Anna Madgigine Jai Kingsley. It's not a widely known piece of black history so I'd thought I'd post about it. She was said to have been an African princess who got abducted & sold into slavery.She ended up marrying her owner & becoming a plantation owner. She was one of the most revered women in Florida's black community. Here's the book's sypnopsis from Waterstones.com:

"Anna Kingsley's life story adds a dramatic chapter to histories of the South, the state of Florida, and the African diaspora. Working from surprisingly extensive records, including information and photographs from extended-family members and descendants, Daniel Shafer reconstructs and documents one slave's remarkable story. Both an American slave and a slaveowner - and possibly an African princess - Anna was a teenager when she was captured in her homeland of Senegal in 1806 and sold into slavery. Zephaniah Kingsley, Jr., a planter and slave trader from Spanish East Florida, bought her in Havana, Cuba, and took her to his St. Johns River plantation in northeast Florida, where she soon became his household manager, his wife, and eventually the mother of four of his children. Her husband formally emancipated her in 1811, and she became the owner of her own farm and twelve slaves the following year. For 25 years, life on her farm and at the Kingsley plantation on Fort George Island was relatively tranquil. But when Florida passed from Spanish to American control, and racism and discrimination increased in the American territories, Anna Kingsley and her children migrated to a colony in Haiti established by her husband as a refuge for free blacks. Amid the spiraling racial tensions of the antebellum period, Anna returned to north Florida, where she bought and sold land, sued white people in the courts, and became a central figure in a free black community. The White Witch Of Rose Hall Is A Jamaican Supernatural Legend!

I've been to the Rose Hall plantation & I bought a little voodoo doll as a souvenir. Let me tell you that I felt nothing supernatural. It could be that I'm just not receptive to these sorts of things. But, I did go on the tour in the daytime. Maybe the ghost of Annie Palmer only comes out at night. It wasn't even spooky. I did feel sad because this woman had murdered so many slaves on that plantation. That was the scary part. Here's an excerpt from an article about the "haunted" plantation:

Sarah Palin Had "Soul" On SNL! How Does She Treat Blacks In Alaska?

Sarah Palin sure was able to groove like a black person on SNL during the Alaskan rap segment. But, how well does she fair with the African-Americans where she governs? Here's an excerpt from the New York Daily News that talks about just that:

"She has no sensitivity to minorities," said the Rev. Alonzo Patterson, a Baptist minister and president of the Alaska Black Leadership Conference. "She's really inciting a lot of African-Americans to get out and vote."

Since taking office in December 2006, Palin has had a sometimes tense relationship with black leaders, who say they have been ignored in their efforts to get more minorities hired in her administration.

In Alaska, blacks chafed when Palin opposed a proclamation endorsing a festival that marks the freeing of slaves. Does Charles Barkley Stick His Foot In His Mouth Or What?

I really don't care for Charles Barkley. He is loud,boisterous & somewhat of a bully. He wants to take his career in a new direction by entering politics. Charles Barkley has set his sights on becoming a future governor of Alabama. How he expects to do that I don't know! The man has a terrible habit of sticking his foot deep into his mouth. Look what he said about Isiah Thomas,for instance. Check out this excerpt from SportingNews.com:

Now, we don't know if Isiah Thomas tried to off himself or not. I think it was despicable of Charles Barkley to infer that he did. A politician must endear himself to people. I hope he knows that if he ever tries to run for governor all this stuff will come back to haunt his ass.This sort of behavior is pretty common from him & it is extremely unappealing. If that is what he truly believed about Isiah Thomas, he should have reached out to him privately. What he did was truly trifling & scandalous!

When Philly Won the World Series, It Made Me Think About The Shortage Of Black Players In Baseball!

Congratulations to Philly for winning the World Series! I am not a huge sports fan but I worked with a black woman who was! She knew every baseball player's stats & everything. But one thing really saddened her about the sport. The fact that there are fewer & fewer black baseball players! This was such a huge concern to her that she was trying to devise a way to get black youths involved in baseball. There are many theories as to why this has happened. They are discussed in the first video.The second video is a nice little history of the negro league.

Given the history of baseball, it is particularly disturbing to some african-americans.Some feel that blacks not wanting to play baseball is akin to them not wanting to vote. They feel that strongly about it because baseball is directly linked to the civil rights movement.It was one of the many things that we had to fight for the right to participate in.Everyone knows that Jackie Robinson was the first black to integrate major league baseball.They know the racism that he confronted. But what about those who came after him? The book pictured above discusses what happened after baseball was integrated. Here's the description that's on Google:

Who Would You Rather Have As The First Lady? Michelle Obama Or Cindy McCain?

Michelle Obama is an upstanding citizen with the grace & refinement that befits a first lady. She's never been on drugs & has not come out & attacked the character of any of the candidates. Unlike Cindy McCain, she has refrained from questioning the moral fiber of John & Cindy McCain. If Obama really wanted to be negative, he would have sent his wife out as the attack dog. You notice that Cindy McCain had no problem showing her aggression out there on the campaign trail.
Have you seen this video? You've got this odious man,Bill O'Reilly repeatedly saying that Michelle Obama "looks like an angry woman to me." Who has shown anger in this race? I believe it's Cindy McCain. I'd feel much more at ease with two calm people & their kids in the White House. That would be Barack & Michelle Obama. Mccain's daughter,Meghan McCain even seems uptight. I shudder to think what would happen if McCain won! We can't let that happen. Get out & vote.

Why Isn't McCain Condemning The Racism Coming From His Supporters?!

Do you see why I would never entertain voting for John McCain? He has not come out & criticized his supporters for saying this type of stuff. "Bomb Obama" is the chant of one crazed McCain supporter! While all this is going on, my guess is that McCain will stay silent on this. He doesn't want to lose any support. Even if he has to create a further divide in the country to do it! This behavior must be something that McCain finds tolerable. He sure knew how to speak out about racism when it involved John Lewis. Where's his irritation & anger now?

John McCain was on Larry King Live tonight. He said very little about racism except to say that it wouldn't be much of a factor in this election. There was no mention of how abhorrent it is & how he won't tolerate it. Since it's been coming from his crazed supporters, I feel he should address this issue. The fact that he hasn't should give any minority pause that intends to vote for John McCain. Has he shown any interest in the struggles that minorities continue to face day to day? No, he has not. Watch the video when the reporter asks what exactly John Mccain has done for blacks. His response is : "UH! UH!" This is discomforting to see as an African-American woman. In case you didn't know, John McCain believed in taxing the rich back in 2000. Now, he's calling Barack Obama a socialist for sharing the same belief in 2008. This guy can't stick to his guns on anything! It's funny that Fox is playing this Chicago radio interview with Barack Obama from 2001 as proof that he is a socialist. Not only that but they are purporting that he is trying to right a social injustice by creating a giant "welfare system".. In plain English, some white people are petrified that "redistributing wealth" means giving their money to aid in the upliftment of disenfranchised blacks. I beg to differ. John McCain had the same basic belief of taxing the rich because they could afford it. I just think people are really being blindsided by ignorance. I have found one person over at Fox news that is really trying to get to the truth.
Thank God for Shepherd Smith for actually questioning this "Joe The Plumber" on equating a Obama presidency with a vote for "the death of Israel". Keith Olbermann is a brilliant commentator who does not mince words. He calls it like he sees it. On his show last night, he pleaded with John McCain to come out & repudiate Ashley Todd's horrific hoax. After all, she was a volunteer for his campaign & she has helped increase the racial tension in this campaign. So have Sarah Palin & John McCain,for that matter!To me, their silence on this racially inflammatory deception speaks volumes!

Barbara West Should Be Fired For Being A Biased Reporter

This is exactly what I am talking about.If you want to witness bad journalism,watch these two videos that are on split-screen. Barbara West(of WFTV-Channel 9)interviews John McCain about his strategy for attacking Obama. She didn't ask him any tough questions about his proposed policies. Look at the controversial interview that Barbara West did with Joe Biden. She compares Obama's tax plans to Karl Marx. Her questions were harsh & definitely biased & in stark contrast to the ones she asked John McCain.

What makes this an issue is that she is operating under the guise of a journalist.The most essential aspect of a reporter's job is to remain fair-minded & neutral. Your job is not to deliver the talking points of the GOP but to ask both presidential candidates impartial questions about what course of action they would take. Barbara West only asked Joe Biden questions that were laced with insinuation. What did I really learn from either interview? That Barbara West will definitely be voting republican! It's clear that she had an agenda by the way she conducted both interviews. It is on those grounds that she should be terminated!

8 Year Old Boy Kills Himself With Uzi!

I don't think this child should have been allowed to shoot a gun. It's legal if there is an instructor there, which there was. But,this was a preventable tragedy. Why are we voluntarily giving children weapons that could kill them? I know that there are those who like to go hunting & love their guns. That's all fine & good. I think guns should be used out of necessity by adults only,though. Under no circumstances should there ever be a gun even in the vicinity of a child. This was an accident that just did not have to happen.

I Bet Most Americans Only Think There's Two Wars Just Like The Brits!

Apparently,the Brits aren't aware of all the conflicts that are going on in Africa. I thought it was just the Americans who thought there was only two wars going on. And we thought it was bad in the ghetto. Emmanuel Jal is talking about death & violence. All things that some people choose to glorify in their rap lyrics. How Come You Never Hear About Black Nationalists Plotting To Kill McCain?

I've heard that blacks are just as racist as whites on places like Fox. The media couldn't stop recycling Obama's connection to black nationalists.Okay,fair enough. But, let me pose a few questions that have been on my mind. Where are these racist blacks who are influenced by Reverend Wright's "incendiary rhetoric"? How come they haven't devised any plans to assassinate John McCain?And lastly, why is it just whites who harbor such hatred towards blacks that they want to kill them? I think these are questions that are worth some deep contemplation. Because this is the second plot against Obama where the potential perpetrators were white xenophobes. There have been no reports of blacks banding together to kill John McCain. So far, all the racism in this campaign has been directed towards Barack Obama. If racism is not a huge problem in America anymore, why are so many whites so angry that they are being driven to thoughts of murder? What kind of sicko does this to a 7-yr. old? Or anyone for that matter! It has been confirmed that Julian King was the victim of homicide. The sweet innocent soul was snuffed out of this child by a bullet to the back of his head. This is a heartbreaking tragedy,indeed! But it is not an isolated incident,unfortunately. McCain Assures Tom Brokaw That He Will Win!

Although Pat Buchanan has changed his tune now, look at what he's saying about McCain during the republican primaries. John McCain promised that "there will be more wars". Pat Buchanan says in the video that he will be a "war president." He also described Mccain as "red-faced & bellicose. We cannot let someone like this run this country in the middle of an economic warfare. It's common knowledge that he is not "good on the economy.

John McCain has seen Obama's lead decrease slightly in the polls. Today, on "Meet The Press" he promised Tom Brokaw that he would emerge as the victor on Nov 4. We,as voters, have to understand just how crucial it is for us to actually vote! A lot of people "talk the talk but they don't walk the walk"! That's an old street expression, if you didn't know. It is of great consequence to the future of the world that we make the right decision. I don't want America to be plunged into more wars & debt. I'm petrified of a McCain/Palin administration! Noone can convince me that they will be good for the world. Vote for Barack Obama because there really will be a positive change.

Nigeria To Rename 80 Streets After Various Black Legends

I found an interesting article on one of my favorite sites Yardflex.com. According to them, Nigeria will name the streets after various blacks who were historically significant. Here's a snippet:

"Nigeria's Federal Capital Territory Minister, Aliyu Umar announced recently that some 80 streets will be renamed in the country's administrative capital and the new street names will more closely reflect the cultural and historical relevance of Africans. D.L. Hughley will be on CNN with his own sardonic news program. According to the NY Times,

I really liked him when he was doing stand-up & his performance in "The Original Kings Of Comedy"! But sometimes he says things that cause outrage & controversy! A lot of black people were offended when he chimed in on what Don Imus said about "nappy-headed hos" in reference to the women from the Rutgers Basketball team. He basically said that they were ugly & nappy-headed which took Don Imus's comments even further. The Merger of 26 African Countries Into A Single Market May Uplift Africa!

The Monitor Online reported that 26 African countries will unite to form one single regional market. It is being called a historic moment in Africa because it is helping to build the largest free trade area in Africa.It is also helping Africans realize their dream of having a African Economic Community. "Economic integration is not enough. There is need for political integration which will bring about a common army to protect the interests of Africa,” Mr Museveni added. McCain Helper Lied About Black Obama Supporter Robbing & Attacking Her!

For everyone's "edification", this is an opinion blog. I do include news articles to reinforce my views on particular issues. I did not post my opinion of this story because I felt it was untrue.It is imperative to understand that because Fox news aired a story that was completely racist & bogus! There are a whole lot of folks who view them as a news organization.Apparently, they reported that Ashley Todd,a McCain helper, was attacked by a 6'4 black man Wedneday night in Pennsylvania.She said it was because she had a McCain sticker on her car. According to her, the black man who beat her & marked her face with a "B" was a Obama supporter. This was supposed to be an example of just how intense Barack Obama's backers really are.

Rick Sanchez of CNN reported today that it was all a hoax. He mentioned the fact that this story was not reported on by CNN. He felt that Fox & other "news" associations should thoroughly check the facts before they run with a story like this. Apparently, it was discussed all over talk radio as if it were a fact. I hope they all express their outrage over the fact that it was all a hoax!

The McCain campaign issued a statement to CNN saying that she is not a paid campaign worker. And that's because it turns out that Ashley Todd is a self-mutilator & a liar! The "attack" that she claimed took place could have sent another innocent black man to prison. I guess to Ashley Todd black men are dispensable.It seems that racism is an incorrigible issue in our society.

I was the victim of an assault by a black man in 2007. The assailant is still on the loose. The police had a suspect that looked like the guy but I was attacked from behind. I was not a 100 percent so I could not bring myself to say it was their suspect. What if it wasn't the right person? Too many innocent black men are in prison already. This woman apparently has no conscience! Did she make this whole thing up because she thought it would help John McCain? What a horrid young woman! The good news is that she is facing charges for making this shit up!

The Congo War Is The Most Violent War Since World War II

There is more than economic woes in the Congo. Women are being treated as economic pawns & are raped in the most brutal fashion imaginable. There is an election going on in America that has the whole country enraptured. Is that the reason we haven't heard more about it? No, because the Congo War has been taking place for 10 years. It has not received a whole lot of media attention.The coverage of the Congo War has been pretty sparse & sporadic.Here is an excerpt from a CNN report on the Congo War's effect on women:

I am posting this to bring attention to the pain & suffering that is going on in Africa. There is more than just starvation & AIDS going on in the motherland.It is a war-ravaged continent as well!Real humans are being subjected to the most atrocious conduct on the other side of the world. When it was ascertained that Michael Vick played a role in the maiming & killing of his dogs, the entire nation reacted explosively!Some folks wanted him to do life in prison! But,the general attitude towards Africans is one of callousness & antipathy!How is it that the murder of dogs generates more passionate concern than the systematic killing of human beings? My mind is completely baffled by that!

Madonna's Issues With Her Physicality & Age May Have Contributed To Her Divorce!

Madonna needs to frame the first image over all of her mirrors & workout equipment. Especially the t-shirt she is wearing. Healthy is not an adjective that could be applied to Madonna! The gaunt but muscular appearance of her body is such a vast difference from the way it used to look. She almost looks like a cadaver.Everyone bought more into her style than her talent.Her current look may have contributed to the dissolution of Madonna & Guy Ritchie's marriage. Now, she's never been a great beauty but she was always undeniably sexy. I don't think she is allowing herself to age gracefully but I don't think she looks like anyone's "grandma" either. Guy Ritchie was probably angered by the fact that being married to one of the world's biggest superstars didn't boost his career. In fact, it seemed to tank once they got hitched! I think he was harboring resentment because of her powerful image & personality. British men usually like their women to be proper & demure. Two things that she defintely is not.

Apparently, she was obsessed with keeping up a youthful appearance. It seemed to have wrecked her sex life & marriage. The 10 year age difference between Guy & Madonna was used by him to demean her. Wow! You can't call anyone an "elitist" when you shop at Neiman Marcus & Saks. Those are some super posh stores for a "regular" small-town girl. I guess Macy's attire just isn't good enough for plain folks like Sarah Palin. Now, this is not really suprising. I'm sure all of the candidates spend money to look good because they're in the public eye. But it just emphasizes the hypocrisy of the McCain/Palin claim that they're fighting for the regular "joe". What's normal about spending $150,000 on clothes & makeup in just 3 months? Are they just like you & me as they claim? Hell no! I don't even make that in a year! John McCain's Ancestors Owned Slaves Who Retained The McCain Surname! Read How Famous Blues Guitarist Mississippi John Hurt Is Connected To McCain!

Sen. John McCain's ancestors were cotton barons who possessed slaves in Mississippi.He knew that they fought in the Civil War. He claimed to have just found out they owned blacks when it was revealed to him by www.salon.com in 2000. Here is an excerpt with the link to that article:

I have to admit that I've become a political junkie. And with good reason,guys!This is one of the most thrilling elections I've ever witnessed!Colin Powell just endorsed Barack Obama on "Meet The Press" this Sunday!!! This is a distinguished man who did not make his choice lightly. He truly weighted both candidates. With his military & political experience, he feels more comfortable with Obama. McCain Says The IRS Will Be Turned Into A "Giant Welfare System"!!!

This video shows the classism that is going on right now. Watch Terry Jeffrey call medicare & social security representations of socialism. I am astounded by this because I'm just now seeing it. But, it plays into all of the socialist rhetoric that is being trumpeted by republicans.It is of the highest importance that I continue to blog about these issues.This really is a culture war & all blacks, whites, asians, arabs, latinos,etc... beter recognize that fact. I am stupefied that the worst kind of politics is at play here. In using the word "welfare", John McCain is speaking to those who believe that most blacks are on welfare.That particular remark is being used to stoke not only racism. This is classism as well! McCain said today that "Joe The Plumber" stands for us all. I don't know how a middle-aged balding white man could possibly represent me. If you don't own a small business, John McCain is not talking to you! He seems to despise anything that will help the poor. When it comes to healthcare, he wants to cut Medicare by 20%. Will that really help the elderly in this society? What happened to "love thy neighbor"? I guess when we offer assistance to those that need it in America then we are just practicing "socialism". John McCain's outrage that Obama wants to "spread the wealth" speaks volumes to me. This is a man who is fighting for the wealthy not the poor. Margaret Sanger was apparently a racist & the founder of Planned Parenthood. Since Sarah Palin was picked, I've been doing a lot more research on abortion. Oh, my God! I think her own words say enough about the real reason behind Planned Parenthood. It was aimed at getting rid of blacks & others that she found to be unqualified to exist. Wow! I must admit that I really never knew any of this. I am pro-life to a certain extent because there are some circumstances where abortion is required. This video gives the black perspective on abortion. They talk about how Margaret Sanger's real motives which was to bring about the genocide of all blacks. How unbelievable & absolutely terrifying! Planned Parenthood was initially created to exterminate blacks.
