BBC Terminates Relationship With Margaret Thatcher's Daughter Over Racist Remarks!

Now,Margaret Thatcher is no stranger to accusation of racisms herself.Look at the furor that she caused with the remarks that she made after 9/11.Here's an excerpt from BBC:

"Baroness Thatcher has been accused of encouraging racists after saying that she "had not heard enough condemnation from Muslim priests" of the US terror attacks. The former British prime minister's comments were roundly condemned by British Muslim leaders and politicans of all sides in the UK.

Former Deputy Prime Minister Michael Heseltine, asked on BBC Radio 4's Today programme about the comments, said: "Frankly, I find it difficult to find words to describe my horror at what I saw."
The comments "could only encourage" those with racist tendencies to act, said Mr Heseltine, whose leadership challenge led to Mrs Thatcher's replacement as Tory leader by John Major.

Her comments come at an acutely sensitive time as Prime Minister Tony Blair prepares to embark on a new round of diplomatic talks to bolster support for the international coalition against terrorism.

Muslim leaders said her remarks were ill-informed and inflammatory."(END OF EXCERPT) Read the rest here

So,is it any suprise that her daughter got dropped from the BBC because she made a racist remark? Racism is passed down as if it were a family heirloom oftentimes!I wonder if that is true in the case of Carol Thatcher. Here's more on the racist statement that she made from Yahoo:

"Carol Thatcher was axed from her roving reporter role for "The One Show", the main BBC1 channel's daily prime time topical programme, for comparing a male tennis player to a "golliwog" after filming last Thursday's edition.

British media reports suggested the player was either Gael Monfils or Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, both of France.

Her agent Ali Gunn accused the British Broadcasting Corporation of "outrageous" behaviour and suggested Carol Thatcher was the victim of a personal campaign because of BBC bias against Margaret Thatcher.

"This comment was made in jest afterwards in the green room over a drink and no-one objected to it at the time," Gunn said.

"It's absolutely outrageous that the BBC has condoned this leak.

"They haven't even disciplined the member of staff and frankly we issued a fulsome apology that was rejected by them. But they should be issuing us with an apology.

"If her name were not Thatcher we wouldn't be talking."

Carol Thatcher, 53, is a journalist and a regular on the after-dinner speaking circuit after winning a British reality television contest in 2005.

The word "golliwog," referring to a black doll-like character, was once widely used including as the emblem of a leading make of British jam, but in recent decades has been dropped after claims it was racist.

The BBC, Britain's public service broadcaster, has been rocked by a series of scandals in recent years, including a major row in October over offensive comments by top presenters Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand.

Ross was suspended for 12 weeks for the remarks about Brand having slept with the granddaughter of Fawlty Towers actor Andrew Sachs, while Brand resigned from his BBC radio show.

Former Thatcher Cabinet minister Norman Tebbit, one of her closest allies, said: "It does seem very odd that Jonathan Ross can be back broadcasting having made obscene, insulting remarks on the air, and Carol Thatcher, who said something which is allegedly highly offensive but which I rather doubt was meant to be so, in private, should be banned in this way.

"It is probably a bit of a way for the BBC to get back at Carol's mother."

But a spokesman for the BBC rejected the suggestion her dismissal was linked to her mother as "just silly"."(END OF EXCERPT)Read the whole story here.

From Gay Marriage To Divorce, Gay Activists Call It Quits!

A Jamaica Plain's lesbian couple who were instrumental in the legalization of gay marriage in Mass. have called it quits! It's too bad that it didn't work out for the famous couple,Hillary and Julie Goodridge! But,it just goes to show that people fall in & out of love no matter what their sexual preference is. I find it pretty darn outrageous for people to make remarks like,"At first they wanted gay marriage & now it's gay divorce! What's next?" No matter what the circumstances are,you are not obligated to stay with someone you aren't compatible with.It doesn't prove that gay marriage is wrong. This is just another case of two people that may have been wrong for each other.Read all about it here.

This Californian Wishes That She Could Delay Paying Her Taxes Like My State Is!

Wow,there are a whole lot of tax issues,as discussed in the previous post.People have personal tax issues, like President Obama's nominees. And the great state of California can't pay it's taxes either. So,this Californian wonders why in the heck she has to pay her taxes on time. After all,if the richest state is too broke to pay people, then how come I can't make that same claim? Oh,I know why!
I'd be facing all sorts of penalties & fines if I evaded taxes or delayed paying them, though! Shouldn't we all be playing by the same rules in America if all of us should sacrifice in this time of need? Because it would appear that isn't the case.

So,if California can delay paying taxpayers, then can taxpayers delay paying California the taxes that they owe?! We know that we would get thrown in jail for owing thousands of dollars to the IRS! It's so unfair that there is such a disparity between the rich & the poor.I mean, you've got rich folks not paying their fair share of taxes. And the richest state in the United States insists that they are broke because they can't decide on a state budget!Well, the state lawmakers & the governor should sacrifice their own pay until they can make a decision. Why is the average California taxpayer being asked to give up money that they need to get by?

Here's more on the situation in California from CNN:

"Gov. Schwarzenegger's Golden State is in a world of pain. Now it can't meet its obligations to taxpayers, vendors and others until a budget deal is reached.
Running short of cash, California has started delaying $3.5 billion in payments to taxpayers, contractors, counties and social service agencies.

With the governor and state lawmakers locking horns on resolving California's budget crunch, the controller Monday halted checks covering these obligations so the state could continue funding its school system and making its debt payments.

The delay will inflict more pain on the already sorry condition of the Golden State, which is facing a $40 billion budget gap. People won't have tax refund money to spend, businesses won't get paid for their services and agencies won't have funds to help the needy until the budget situation is addressed.

Nearly $2 billion in personal state income tax refunds are being held up, according to state estimates. Last year, some two million Californians received refunds in February."(END OF EXCERPT)
