Yuck! Dead Rats Were Discovered At Peanut Corporation Of America's Plant!

I'm telling you that these days it is better to buy fresh food & cook it yourself.At least you know what your own hygienic practices are.What were the sanitation requirements at that Texas peanut processing plant where dead rats & their feces were found?If they had sanitation rules in place,they sure weren't enforcing them.Here's the disgusting facts from CNN:

"The Texas Department of State Health Services on Thursday ordered the recall of all products ever shipped from the Peanut Corporation of America's plant in Plainview, Texas, after discovering dead rodents, rodent excrement and bird feathers in the plant.

The order, which applies to products shipped since the plant opened nearly four years ago, came a day after the discovery of filth in a crawl space above a production area during a health services inspection, Texas Health Department Press Officer Doug McBride told CNN in a telephone interview.

The plant's ventilation system pulled debris "from the infested crawl space into production areas of the plant resulting in the adulteration of exposed food products," a health department news release said.

Officials at the plant, which opened in March 2005 and produced oil-roasted peanuts, dry-roasted peanuts, peanut meal and granulated peanut, voluntarily stopped operations Monday night.

"Our understanding is that the bulk of their products go to other food manufacturers," McBride said. "We're not aware of any direct sales to consumers."

The state has the authority to stop a company's operations and order a recall if it finds "a condition that poses an immediate and serious threat to human life or health," as was the case here, he said."(END OF EXCERPT)Read the rest here.

Horrific Plane Crash In Buffalo,New York Kills 49!

There were no miracles Thursday night in Buffalo,New York.A horrific plane crash has claimed the lives of 49 people.People are saying that things could have been much worse if the crash would have taken place at a nearby airport.Unfortunately,the plane crashed into a house killing the person inside.It's an unimaginable tragedy.My condolences go out to all of the victims & their relatives.Here's more on this story from The Washington Post:

"Authorities say 49 people are dead after a regional commuter plane, carrying at least 44 passengers and 4 crew members, crashed into a home in suburban Clarence, N.Y., near the Buffalo Niagara International Airport.

State police spokeswoman Rebecca Gibbons confirmed early Friday the 48 deaths aboard Continental Connection flight 3407, operated by Manassas, Va.-based Colgan Air.

Clarence emergency control director Dave Bissonet says the crash also killed one person on the ground.

The airplane, a Bombardier Dash 8 Q400, apparently was set to land on a specified runway at the airport under weather conditions that include light snow. Video from local television reports showed fire fighters battling blazes at a crash site. Should Abraham Lincoln Be President Obama's Idol?

I found this interesting take on President Obama's fascination with Abraham Lincoln.Although he is credited with freeing the slaves,some have ascertained that Abraham Lincoln was a racist at heart!In fact,they use the quote in this video to illustrate just how President Lincoln really felt about black equality.It is ironic that President Obama idolizes a man who stated that he didn't believe that blacks should have social or political equality.Here's more on the true Abraham Lincoln from USA Today:

"No doubt he was a racist, but if you look at him in the context of his time, he's so far ahead of other politicians," says Vernon Burton, a retired University of Illinois historian. "Look at Stephen Douglas (Lincoln's Democratic opponent for U.S. Senate in 1858 and president in 1860). His whole platform boiled down to white supremacy.
