U.S. Rep. Donald Payne Escapes Harm After Somali Mortar Attack!

A U.S congressman from New Jersey escaped danger after some Somalis fired mortar shells at the airport that his plane took off from.U.S. Rep. Donald Payne was briefed on the perils of traveling to Mogadishu.As chairman of the subcommittee of Africa,he wanted to visit with Somalia's president and prime minister to discuss piracy among other things.He was warned by the State dept. not to go there,but U.S. Rep. Donald Payne felt secure enough to go.Unfortunately,his trip got cut short & he did not get a chance to have that meeting.

Mr. Payne thinks that the U.S. policy should be changed towards Somalia.He said that we should support Somalia's new government because it would really help to combat piracy.Instead of pouring money into Afghanistan & ignoring Somalia,our government needs to give some financial assistance to Somalia,he says.Donald Payne says that a strong Somalia is the key to a stronger Africa!And we all know that Somalia is in desperate need of a governing body!

"Payne, who represents portions of Essex, Hudson and Union counties in northern New Jersey, is chairman of the Subcommittee on Africa and Global Health. Part of Payne's mission was to investigate how to stamp out the country's rampant piracy.

"He felt it was important to travel there to see first-hand what was happening," McKenney said.

Pirates in Somalia have threatened retaliation for Sunday's U.S. Navy operation that killed three Somali pirates who had been holding an American shipping captain hostage.

But there's no evidence, as of early Monday afternoon, linking the incident at the Mogadishu airport with the operation that liberated hijacked sea captain Richard Phillips, U.S. officials insisted.

An African Union official who witnessed the shelling at the Mogadishu airport, told AFP, "The plane of the congressman was leaving and the mortars started falling."

"There were no casualties, but the attack was aimed at the congressman," the official told AFP.

At a press conference before he departed for the airport, Payne championed broader efforts against piracy and defended the deadly operation to free Phillips.

"I think that any country, any company has the right to protect itself and to protect employees and citizens. The action of the United States was not inappropriate but the piracy was inappropriate," he said.

Police Arrest A Sunday School Teacher For The Murder Of Sandra Cantu!!!!

Police have arrested a Tracy woman who is a Sunday school teacher for the murder of Sandra Cantu.It is horrific if it is true.And it will make some people doubt the validity of Christianity even more.Because it's obvious that Melissa Huckaby was living a lie every Sunday.What she is accused of doing is absolutely vicious & as far from religious piety as possible!Why would this woman do such a malicious thing to an innocent little girl who was her daughter's good friend? For the love of God,why?!!

"A Tracy woman, who was one of the last people to see eight-year-old Sandra Cantu alive, was arrested early Saturday for the murder of the young girl.

Melissa Huckaby, 28, had been interviewed by police since early Friday evening and was taken into custody at 1 a.m., authorities said.

The arrest ended a wild 16-hour period filled with rumors about Huckaby's possible arrest.

She told the Tracy Press and sources confirmed to KTVU that someone stole her waterproof, charcoal-trimmed Eddie Bauer suitcase from the park two weeks ago. She said she had inadvertently left the suitcase in her driveway and it was taken from there.

She claimed she had filled the suitcase with items to decorate a classroom where she teaches Sunday school at her grandfather’s church, but forgot her keys and cell phone. Huckaby went into the home to retrieve them and then drove off without the bag.

Cantu’s body was found Monday stuffed in a large, dark colored suitcase submerged in a Tracy irrigation pond.

“It’s not my grandfather’s,” Huckaby told the paper of the missing suitcase. “It’s mine and someone took it.”

At an afternnon news conference, Police Sgt. Tony Sheneman said he did not have any information about the kind of suitcase in which the girl's body was found.

She also admitted that Cantu had come over to her mobile home the day the girl disappeared to play with Huckaby’s daughter. Huckaby said she told Cantu that her daughter had to clean her room and the little girl left to go to another unnamed friend’s home.

Huckaby said police had interviewed her at the hospital earlier this week, but at Friday's press conference Sheneman would not confirm that the woman had been interviewed. She spent several days in the intensive care unit being treated for what she said was “internal bleeding.”

Local investigators and FBI technicians had seized Huckaby’s Kia SUV earlier in the week and meticulously searched it. Evidence teams had also searched the grounds of the church where her grandfather, Lane Lawless, is the pastor. Police were back at the church on Friday afternoon."(END OF EXCERPT)Read the rest here.
