Iran Needs To Free Roxanna Saberi!
An Iranian-American journalist has been sentenced to 8 yrs in an Iranian prison.Roxanna Saberi was accused of being a spy,but President Obama has said that, "she is an Iranian American who was interested in the country which her family came from." Since I believe that is the case,I sincerely join the chorus of people that say:
"FREE ROXANNA SABERI"!
Here's more from mediabistro:
"Over the weekend American journalist Roxanna Saberi was sentenced, behind closed doors, to eight years in an Iranian prison. Saberi was rushed to trial last week under charges of espionage (she was initially arrested for working without credentials).
News of the arrest elicited an immediate response from a number of news organizations Saberi had worked for here, including NPR and ABC News (in full after the jump), while the White House initially used "cautious language" when addressing the situation. On Sunday President Obama followed up saying: "She is an American citizen, and I have complete confidence that she was not engaging in any sort of espionage," Obama said. "She is an Iranian American who was interested in the country which her family came from. And it is appropriate for her to be treated as such and to be released."
Also on Sunday Iranian president Ahmadinejad publicly stated that Sabieri should be allowed to fully defend herself on appeal.
Meanwhile, a Free Roxana twitter feed has been started, and is carrying all the latest updates."(END OF EXCERPT)Read the rest here.

Gay Marriage Issue: Miss California Is Embroiled In A Controversy Over Her Stance On It!
If Miss California does not believe in gay marriage, then I believe that she has the right to say so.We are all individuals, after all.And for that reason,we should be able to politely disagree with each other.Unlike Perez Hilton,I will not call Ms. Prejean a "dumb bitch" because we have different views on gay marriage. That's doing way too much! She has the right to stick to her beliefs. Here's more from ABC News:
"Miss North Carolina may have taken the title of Miss USA. But everyone seems to be talking about first runner-up Miss California, who raised eyebrows with her answer to judge Perez Hilton's question and sparked the ire of the self-proclaimed gossip queen.
Hilton asked Miss California's Carrie Prejean her thoughts on legalizing gay marriage during the Miss USA 2009 pageant, which aired live Sunday night on NBC.
"Vermont recently became the fourth state to legalize same-sex marriage," he said. "Do you think every state should follow suit, why or why not."
At first, Prejean seemed to trip over her words before giving an answer that drew a mixed reaction from the audience and a look of thinly veiled disgust from Hilton.
"I think it's great Americans are able to choose one or the other," she said. "We live in a land that you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage. And you know what in my country, in my family I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody there, but that's how I was raised and that's how I think it should be, between a man and a woman."
Apparently, though, some were offended by Prejean's answer. On television, there could be heard the sound of boos, drowned out somewhat by applause. Hilton has been blogging about what he called the "worst answer in pageant history" since the show ended.
In a video blog posted Sunday night, he called Prejean "a dumb b----." He later apologized in the blog, offering to take Prejean out for coffee and a "talk."
"I was floored," Hilton told ABCNews.com Monday. "I haven't said this before, but to her credit, I applaud her for her honesty. However, she is not a politician, she's a hopeful Miss USA. Miss USA should represent everyone. Her answer alienated millions of gay and lesbian Americans, their families and their supporters."(END OF EXCERPT)Read the rest here.
