Bristol Palin Should Be The One Speaking Out About Letterman's Tasteless Joke!

I think I know why Sarah Palin is getting hammered by her critics for defending her daughters. They claim that she just wants to draw attention to herself & that's the reason that she's been so vocal about the outrage she feels towards David Letterman.

People are protesting because David Letterman told a horrifically insensitive & tasteless "joke" about Bristol Palin.Or so he says.Sarah Palin has been out there defending both of her children. And I applaud her for that.

But,where the hell is Bristol Palin in this discussion? If she was old enough to get pregnant & have her baby, then Bristol Palin is mature enough to defend both herself & her 14 yr. old sister!

Unlike her mom,I don't think anyone would be able to criticize Bristol Palin for standing up to David Letterman
.No one could accuse her of milking this story for publicity & political gain. That would be tasteless in itself!

Since Bristol Palin has been exposed to the media already, what would be the harm in letting her speak for herself? She was the intended target of Letterman's joke, after all.Not her mother,Sarah Palin.

Who could deny Bristol Palin's right to be outraged?

Here's more on the feud between Sarah Palin & David Letterman from The NY Times:

"David Letterman directly apologized to Gov. Sarah Palin and her daughters on his program Monday night, saying he took responsibility for a joke that had offended Ms. Palin, her family and her supporters.

Mr. Letterman opened the desk portion of his show with the apology, in which he said he wanted to say he was sorry to “the two daughters involved, Bristol and Willow, and also to the governor and her family and everybody else who was outraged by the joke.” Two weeks ago on his “Late Show” program on CBS, he had joked about Governor Palin’s attending a Yankee game with her daughter.

The joke, in which Mr. Letterman seemingly confused Willow, who is 14 and attended a Yankee game with Governor Palin that week, with Bristol, who is 18 and an unwed mother, had to do with the Yankee slugger Alex Rodriguez impregnating Ms. Palin’s daughter.

Last week Mr. Letterman somewhat defiantly said that there was a misperception going on and that he would never make a sexually charged joke about a 14-year old. But he never expressly explained that he had inadvertently confused the two Palin daughters.

Monday he acknowledged that as the host of the program it was his responsibility to get the joke right. “I told a joke that was beyond flawed, and my intent is completely meaningless compared to the perception.”

He also insisted he was confused about the daughters. “I was told at the time she was there with Rudy Giuliani,” Mr. Letterman said. “I should have made the joke about Rudy.”

The issue has been seized upon by supporters of Ms. Palin, who have called for everything from a boycott of Mr. Letterman’s advertisers to his outright firing. They have planned a rally for Tuesday at Mr. Letterman’s theater on Broadway in Manhattan."(END OF EXCERPT)Read the rest here.

Alleged Serial Cat Killer Faces Up To 158 Years In Prison!

As a former cat owner,I was both crushed & mortified to hear about the brutal cat slayings that took place in Miami. There were at least 30 beloved pets who were mutilated by a sadistic individual.Hopefully, that is the person who was apprehended by the police & is currently facing 158 years in prison.

Here's more on this sickening story from The Washington Post:

"Tyler Weinman made only one comment via video link from the Miami-Dade County Pretrial Detention Center, greeting County Judge Mindy S. Glazer at the outset of his hearing. The boyish-faced Weinman was wearing a prison-issued suicide gown -- a one-piece garment designed to limit an inmate's ability to hurt himself.

Glazer found probable cause to hold Weinman over for trial on 19 counts of animal cruelty, four charges of burglary and 19 counts of improperly disposing of animal carcasses. She set bail at $249,500, but also required that he wear an electronic monitoring device and undergo a psychiatric evaluation before his release.

"I'm concerned about his safety and the safety of the community," Glazer said.

His attorney, David W. Macey, charged that Weinman had been interrogated for eight hours straight and kept awake for 24 hours following his arrest. "It's a sad day for the Constitution because Mr. Weinman is innocent," Macey said.

If convicted of all charges, Weinman could face a maximum sentence of 158 years in prison, State Attorney's Office spokeswoman Terry Chavez told the Associated Press.

Weinman was arrested Sunday morning, and law enforcement officials said he had been under surveillance for some time. A detective with the Miami-Dade County police said that authorities had received 60 tips regarding the case.

As many as 30 cat mutilations had been reported over the past month within a 50-block radius of two Miami suburbs, Cutler Bay and Palmetto Bay. In many of the cases, family pets had been snatched after dark, taken to an unknown location where they were mutilated, and then returned to their homes hours later, where the bodies were often discovered by horrified pet owners.

Some carcasses appear to have been posed or skinned. A number of victims described the injuries to their pets as "clean" wounds, inflicted by a sharp instrument."(END OF EXCERPT)Read the entire story here.

Is President Obama Guilty Of Cronyism For The Termination Of Inspector General,Gerald Walpin?!!

The conservative blogosphere is in an uproar over the firing of Inspector General,Gerald Walpin. At issue for many is the fact that Mayor Kevin Johnson,an Obama supporter,is embroiled in an investigation that Mr. Walpin was conducting.Bloggers are speculating that Walpin was terminated because of the information that he discovered.

Kevin Johnson, the mayor of Sacramento, allegedly misused funds that were intended for his non-profit group,St.HOPE Academy. The U.S. attorney in Sacramento was critical of the way Mr. Walpin handled the investigation & President Obama said that he had lost confidence in the Inspector General.

Since Obama neglected to provide more details behind the firing, conservatives are calling this brewing scandal "Walpin-Gate".Like President Bush,he is being accused of cronyism. Here's more on this story from chron.com:

" President Barack Obama plans to fire the inspector general who investigates AmeriCorps and other national service programs amid a controversy between the IG and Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson, who is an Obama supporter and former NBA basketball star.

The IG, Gerald Walpin, was criticized by the U.S. attorney in Sacramento for the way he handled an investigation of Johnson and his nonprofit group, St. HOPE Academy, which received hundreds of thousands of dollars in federal grants from the Corporation for National Community Service. The corporation runs the AmeriCorps program.

On Thursday, Obama said in a letter to Congress that he had lost confidence in Walpin. Neither the president nor deputy White House press secretary Josh Earnest would give details.

The president must give Congress 30 days' notice before removing Walpin, who is being suspended with pay for the 30 days. Earnest said, "The president will appoint a replacement in whom he has full confidence as the corporation carries out its important mission."

Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, in a letter to Obama, pointed to a law requiring that Congress be given the reasons an IG is fired. He cited a Senate report saying the requirement is designed to ensure that inspectors general are not removed for political reasons.

Grassley said Walpin had identified millions of dollars in AmeriCorps funds that were wasted or misspent and "it appears he has been doing a good job."

White House counsel Gregory Craig, in a reply to Grassley, cited a letter from the acting U.S. attorney in Sacramento to the Inspector General Council's integrity committee about how Walpin handled Johnson's case during the time when Johnson also was running for mayor.

"We are aware of the circumstances leading to that referral and of Mr. Walpin's conduct throughout his tenure and can assure you that the president's decision was carefully considered," Craig wrote.

Messages left for Walpin seeking comment were not immediately returned.

The IG found that Johnson, a former all-star point guard for the Phoenix Suns, had used AmeriCorps grants to pay volunteers to engage in school-board political activities, run personal errands for Johnson and even wash his car.

In August 2008, Walpin referred the matter to the local U.S. attorney's office, which said the IG's conclusions seemed overstated and did not accurately reflect all the information gathered in the investigation."(END OF EXCERPT)Read the rest here.
