Gay Marriage Issue: Miss California Is Embroiled In A Controversy Over Her Stance On It!

If Miss California does not believe in gay marriage, then I believe that she has the right to say so.We are all individuals, after all.And for that reason,we should be able to politely disagree with each other.Unlike Perez Hilton,I will not call Ms. Prejean a "dumb bitch" because we have different views on gay marriage. That's doing way too much! She has the right to stick to her beliefs. Here's more from ABC News:

"Miss North Carolina may have taken the title of Miss USA. But everyone seems to be talking about first runner-up Miss California, who raised eyebrows with her answer to judge Perez Hilton's question and sparked the ire of the self-proclaimed gossip queen.

Hilton asked Miss California's Carrie Prejean her thoughts on legalizing gay marriage during the Miss USA 2009 pageant, which aired live Sunday night on NBC.

"Vermont recently became the fourth state to legalize same-sex marriage," he said. "Do you think every state should follow suit, why or why not."

At first, Prejean seemed to trip over her words before giving an answer that drew a mixed reaction from the audience and a look of thinly veiled disgust from Hilton.

"I think it's great Americans are able to choose one or the other," she said. "We live in a land that you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage. And you know what in my country, in my family I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody there, but that's how I was raised and that's how I think it should be, between a man and a woman."

Apparently, though, some were offended by Prejean's answer. On television, there could be heard the sound of boos, drowned out somewhat by applause. Hilton has been blogging about what he called the "worst answer in pageant history" since the show ended.

In a video blog posted Sunday night, he called Prejean "a dumb b----." He later apologized in the blog, offering to take Prejean out for coffee and a "talk."

"I was floored," Hilton told ABCNews.com Monday. "I haven't said this before, but to her credit, I applaud her for her honesty. However, she is not a politician, she's a hopeful Miss USA. Miss USA should represent everyone. Her answer alienated millions of gay and lesbian Americans, their families and their supporters."(END OF EXCERPT)Read the rest here.

Can You Believe That An Eighth Grader Was Strip Searched By School Officials?!!

WTF?!!! I don't think that finding out who actually brought ibuprofen pills to school is reason enough to conduct a strip search!Especially on an eighth grader! But,apparently Arizona school officials thought that it was the appropriate action to take!

They made Savana Redding(pictured above) strip down to her underwear! Then, school officials had the poor girl shake her bra & panties out just to make sure there were no pills! Here's more on this case from CBS News:

"The U.S. Supreme Court is set to hear the case of a young Arizona honor student who was strip-searched in the eighth grade by school officials looking for ibuprofen pills.

Savana Redding and her mother have been fighting the Safford Unified School District in Safford, Ariz., since 2003.

That's when Savana - then a 13-year-old honor student - was called to the principal's office.

"Once they got me into my underwear I thought they would let me put my clothes back on," she told CBS News correspondent Hattie Kauffman. "But then they told me to pull out my bra and shake it, and my underwear as well."

When another student was found with ibuprofen pills, she blamed Savana. After a search of her backpack came up empty, the school nurse and a female secretary performed a strip search.

Kauffman asked Redding what she was thinking after the procedure.

"You know, I couldn't think about going back to school," she said. "I didn't want to see those people ever again."

The search didn't turn up any drugs. The ACLU sued the district and will argue Savannah's case before the Supreme Court.

"Child health experts are backing Savana in this case," said ACLU attorney Adam Wolf. "They agree that a strip search of a child inflicts trauma similar in kind and degree to sexual abuse."(END OF EXCERPT)Read the rest here.

After The President Of Iran Called Israel "Racist", 20 Delegates Walked Out Of The UN Conference On Racism!

The United States should have gone to the United Nation's conference on racism, despite the racist text. They could have just done what these other countries in attendance did when they heard objectionable comments.Walk out of the conference! As an African -American who still experiences racism,I think it was a mistake for the U.S. to not attend!

Here's more on what went on at the conference from Times Online:

"British delegates joined a dramatic diplomatic walkout today when President Ahmadinejad of Iran told a major UN conference against racism that the state of Israel had been founded "on the pretext of Jewish suffering" during the Second World War.

Around 20 delegates, including envoys from the UK, France, and Finland stood up and left the room at what was considered an anti-Semitic remark by the Iranian leader, who has repeatedly called for Israel to be wiped off the map.

Nine Western countries including Israel and the United States had already decided to boycott the conference entirely because its draft declaration endorsed the conclusions of an anti-racism conference in South Africa eight years ago in which Islamic nations pushed through a text equating Zionism with racism.

Even before the walkout, Mr Ahmadinejad's speech had been interrupted by three protesters dressed as clowns who where quickly bundled from the vast conference room at the Palais des Nations by guards.

Later, other protesters shouted down from the balcony as the Iranian president carried on his address.

Earlier today, Israel recalled its ambassador to Switzerland in protest at a brief meeting yesterday between Mr Ahmadinejad and his Swiss counterpart, Hans-Rudolf Merz.

The conference opened as Israel marks Holocaust Remembrance Day - which falls this year on the 120th anniversary of Adolf Hitler's birth. This morning the Israeli Prime Minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, told his Cabinet that while Israel commemorates the six million Jews slaughtered by the Nazis, "in Switzerland, the guest of honour is a racist and a Holocaust-denier who doesn’t conceal his intention to wipe Israel off the face of this earth".(END OF EXCERPT)Read the rest here.
