If You Don't Understand Racism, Watch This!
This video is very informative because it draws a parallel between the extermination of the Jews & Africans by Germans. Before the Jewish Holocaust, there was an African Holocaust. Here is an excerpt of those events from; http://www.oasys.com.na/News/2008/8/20/Jonker-Afrikaner-Remembered/.
"Alongside the Ovaherero, large populations of the Nama community were almost wiped from the face of the earth during the four years of hostility during the 1904-1908 wars. General Lothar von Trotha issued the infamous extermination order, calling for not only active foot soldiers to be killed but also defenceless women and children and some were confined in concentration camps where many were starved to death, according to historians. The extermination order is widely believed to be the first-ever ethnic cleansing history on record on the continent.
On January 12, 1904, the Herero people under Samuel Maharero rose in rebellion against German colonial rule. In August, German general Lothar von Trotha finally defeated the Herero in the Waterberg area and drove them and their families into the desert of Omaheke where most of them died of thirst.
In October, the Nama also took up arms against the Germans and were dealt with in a similar fashion. Between 24 000 and 65 000 Ovaherero, estimated to be almost 65 percent of the total Ovaherero population and 10 000 Nama estimated to be a half of the population perished. Two characteristics of the genocide were death by starvation and the poisoning of wells used by the Herero and Nama populations that were trapped in the deserts.
In 1985, the United Nations’ Whitaker Report recognised Germany’s attempt to exterminate the Herero and Nama peoples of South-West Africa as one of the earliest attempts at genocide in the 20th century. The German government apologised for the events in 2004.
For the last four years the Genocide Repatriation Committee, led by Riruako, has unsuccessfully advocated for Germany to compensate the Ovaherero and the Nama people, but without much success", the article states.
This is an amazing story which is also depicted in the video I posted above. To this day, those people were not compensated. That let's you know the state of racial relations worldwide. Even in the 21st century, you will not give Africans any sort of reparation whatsoever. Slavery reparations should not be an issue, according to many, because it happened over a century ago. What happened here? This was a barbaric act which threatened to wipe this race off the face of the earth. American Indians still receive a check for the horrible acts committed against them. That all transpired at the same time as slavery. The Nama community faced extermination in the 20th century just like the Jews. How does one holocaust differ from the other? Any group of people who survive these crimes against humanity should be apologized to & compensated in some way. The pain & suffering of the black diaspora is just as great as any other race, if not greater. This whole series of videos will give you much more clarity on international race relations.
