I Found A Vintage 1981 Report On Racial Sterotypes In Film. How Much Has Changed Since Then?

I really like Spike Lee & Tyler Perry's movies because they both give depth to their black characters. You get realistic portrayals of blacks. Not the typical stereotypes that still persist on television & film. This 1981 news report on racial stereotypes demonstrates just how little has changed in the film industry. Except for the fact that blacks are offered more than servant roles. But, I just found it hard to believe that Denzel Washington won an Oscar for playing the role of a violent criminal. I would have thought Malcolm X would have been the role that got him that accolade. Halle Berry got her award by playing a abusive single black mother. Both of those roles may have garnered the highest praise but they are still racial stereotypes. Not much has changed in that regard.
