Barbara West Should Be Fired For Being A Biased Reporter
This is exactly what I am talking about. If you want to witness bad journalism, watch these two videos that are on split-screen. Barbara West(of WFTV-Channel 9)interviews John McCain about his strategy for attacking Obama. She didn't ask him any tough questions about his proposed policies. Look at the controversial interview that Barbara West did with Joe Biden. She compares Obama's tax plans to Karl Marx. Her questions were harsh & definitely biased & in stark contrast to the ones she asked John McCain.
What makes this an issue is that she is operating under the guise of a journalist. The most essential aspect of a reporter's job is to remain fair-minded & neutral. Your job is not to deliver the talking points of the GOP but to ask both presidential candidates impartial questions about what course of action they would take. Barbara West only asked Joe Biden questions that were laced with insinuation. What did I really learn from either interview? That Barbara West will definitely be voting republican! It's clear that she had an agenda by the way she conducted both interviews. It is on those grounds that she should be terminated!
Read what other's think in this excerpt from The Orlando Sentinel :
Jill Geisler, who teaches ethics and management at the Poynter Institute journalism school, said West has a right to ask any question she wants. "Depending on where you sit, you may say, 'Somebody finally asked the question I had,'. " Geisler said. "Others would say it's loaded language."
Geisler found some of West's language hyperbolic and described the anchor as coming from a point of view similar to talk radio hosts Sean Hannity's or Rush Limbaugh's.
"I can ask you 'Have you stopped beating your wife?' and say it's just a question, but there's an assumption embedded in it," Geisler said. "There was a world view in those questions."
"Several readers questioned how objective West could be because her husband, Wade West, was a Republican strategist, who contributed $2,250 to Republican candidates from 2000 to 2006. Barbara West said he was no longer a strategist and instead runs America Fundraising Auctions, which stages charity auctions.
"That's his business, his full-time business and his only business," West said.
Asked her political affiliation, West said, "I don't think I should say." Voting registration records show she is a Republican."(END OF EXCERPT) Read the entire article by following this link:

8 Year Old Boy Kills Himself With Uzi!
I don't think this child should have been allowed to shoot a gun. It's legal if there is an instructor there, which there was. But,this was a preventable tragedy. Why are we voluntarily giving children weapons that could kill them? I know that there are those who like to go hunting & love their guns. That's all fine & good. I think guns should be used out of necessity by adults only, though. Under no circumstances should there ever be a gun even in the vicinity of a child. This was an accident that just did not have to happen.
I Bet Most Americans Only Think There's Two Wars Just Like The Brits!
Apparently, the Brits aren't aware of all the conflicts that are going on in Africa. I thought it was just the Americans who thought there was only two wars going on. There's so much discord & violence in Africa that does not get the attention it so badly needs. People are dying in record numbers. Here is an excerpt from Reuters AlertNet :
"Clearly people's focus is on Iraq and Afghanistan where British forces are involved, but at the same time as these conflicts are unfolding, there are millions of people around the world whose lives are being torn apart in other, neglected conflict zones," David Peppiatt, head of humanitarian policy at the British Red Cross, said in a statement. The video I included is about Emmanuel Jal who was a child soldier in Sudan. He is super duper talented & extremely good looking. But more importantly, he shares his poignant account of what it was like to be a "War Child".Emmanuel Jal does some dope ass hip-hop songs that are personal narratives describing what it was like to be in the midst of the warfare in Sudan. And we thought it was bad in the ghetto. Emmanuel Jal is talking about death & violence. All things that some people choose to glorify in their rap lyrics. Well, this guy really was a soldier who found no glory in the loss of life that was a common occurrence in Sudan. Watch this commendable man's story.
