FIRST BLACK DEMOCRATIC NOMINEE FOR PRESIDENT HAS ARRIVED!!

This speech has illuminated him as the right man for the job!! I am elated of course that he is of african descent such as myself. But more importantly, he is presidential. He does not just appear to be. I expect a president to be highly intellectual & educated by the best institutions. After George Bush, all Americans should demand an intelligent & responsible leader. Not a reckless one whose brain seems to have no thought process.

This country cannot afford to get it wrong this time. John Mccain's female choice for VP, Sarah Palin, will certainly sway some ignorant female voters who call themselves democrats. You have to be able to identify with the beliefs of the candidates & the positions they take on the issues. I am a woman who never believed that Hilary Clinton would effect great change for me. The fact that she is a female is not enough for me. Being black is not enough for me either. Hilary Clinton is a great female politician but she is just that. Barack Obama is real to the very core of his being. I feel like he genuinely cares about blacks & females. Whereas, Hilary Clinton only cared about the plight of women. She lost me on some of the comments she made concerning race during her campaign. In my next posting, I will be looking in-depth at one of those statements. You see, I do not like to misquote anyone. The beauty of the internet & youtube is that I can let the reader see comments for themselves. This way, you can decide if it has been misconstrued in anyway. In closing, I hope people really make an informed decision this time around. Stop voting with your emotions at play. Use your mind because the country is at stake this election cycle. Until next time!

This woman should be proud of a historic moment in America but instead....

I hope that this black Clinton delegate realizes the dream is still very much in reach. She was very emotional & visibly disturbed that for the first time in history we have a black democratic candidate. This moment in history should be embraced by every American. I can identify with not only Barack but Michelle Obama as well. I never supported Hilary Clinton so I cannot relate to her pain. Why would she feel that only a rich white woman can enrich her life? What makes her think that Barack Obama will not make a difference on both the national & global level. This is a man with ties to Africa & America. He was schooled in Indonesia. And he can't think or make things happen for America internationally? What a crock!

This woman should take comfort that someone who can identify with her will be our next president. She claims to love Hilary so much because she can bring change to her life. Well, Barack Obama has already brought change to various underrepresented minorities by upgrading all of our status. Now, my son can actually do more than entertain the idea of being the next president of the United States of America!!! Kudos to Barack & Michelle Obama! And to the Clinton delegate who is so broken up about it, get with the positive change for Black America! Finally, Dr. Martin Luther King's dream has materialized into a burgeoning reality. The reconstruction era has finally begun almost two centuries after slavery ended. This country has had a brutal & bloody history regarding race. Now, the time is here where blacks & whites can finally be on somewhat of an equal playing field. Somehow, I do not believe Hilary Clinton could have made whites view blacks any differently. Barack Obama already has. Not only that he has given young black men a positive role model. Michelle Obama has given black women theirs as well. Like Jackie Kennedy Onassis, she will be a unforgettable first lady. She has sophistication, poise, style, intelligence, beauty,& grace. She is already a black female icon. I have never been more proud to be black then I am at this moment. Hopefully, this woman will come to her damn senses! VOTE FOR BARACK OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!

Morgan Freeman Is With A White Woman Now.

I knew it! Morgan Freeman has left his wife for a white woman! Oh my! His wife is black & had been by his side for many years. I just hope that it works out for him & that his wife is fairly compensated in their divorce settlement. It's just a shame because I knew that his crash had exposed something deeper.

John Edwards is in a deep hole that he dug himself. Wow! He has left his cancer-stricken wife to deal with more stress than she needs. Is this the norm in political life? Politicians promote family values & practicing good morals. But then, they get exposed as being the biggest hypocrites of them all. This is just the latest example.

Here we have two men who have had affairs. John Edwards is with a younger woman now. Morgan Freeman is with a white woman now. What a disappointment! They are perpetuating different stereotypes of cheaters. You know, the stereotypes of older men leaving their wives for younger women. The other one is of black men who become successful eventually winding up with white women. Morgan Freeman has fit both of these stereotypes. Until next time, folks! Thanks to the National Enquirer for this cover that I have used here.

Why I like Dr. Boyce Watkins

This is a debate over whether Bill O'Reilly was being racist or not regarding a statement he made. It was in relation to the civility of the black clientele at Sylvia's restaurant in New York. In his racist musings, he feigned suprise that they were sitting down & enjoying themselves. He then proceeded to throw out some stereotypes about african-americans as well. Racist, yes indeedy!

Now, Mr. O'Reilly can claim to be indignant at that accusation. I call it like I see it. Dr. Boyce Watkins makes his view & stance on racism quite clear. He is a media watchdog who exposes Fox TV for what it really is. Unfortunately, all of the cable giants are guilty of the same thing as Fox. After all, they are all under one conglomerate. CNN purports to keeping "them" honest. Is Glen Beck one of "them"? Whose keeping him honest? Blogs like this one!

My personal issues that involve my race

It is very early in the morning & I've decided to post something. Issac Hayes & Bernie Mac have passed on & they are both in an upcoming movie together. How odd! A dam broke in the Grand Canyon which is crazy! Hundreds of people are scrambling to get out of there. Whew! I'm sure glad I'm not a nature buff like that mormon prick I just worked for. I wish he would have taken a hike there instead of Mt. Shasta. Only kidding. I wouldn't wish fear & anxiety on anyone not even his uptight ass.

All of this stress that I've been feeling has finally been relieved. I have come to the realization that I don't want to ride the corporate tidal wave. This job had already misled & fired my superior in the three months I had been there. She was ridiculed behind her back & to her face. The stress that she was under had started to weigh heavily on me. It is horrible when you see the demise of your co-worker right before your very eyes. Especially when you are being groomed to take her place. Or so it seemed.

My prick ass boss had me doing a lot more for less money than they paid her! I came to the conclusion that I could put up with this weasel or squirm my way out of a tight spot. You see, all of these high gas prices literally fucked me. My division moved 17 miles further than my 14 mile daily commute. Now, I was going to travel 62 miles round trip to get to work. There is too much deceit that involved my position & move to relay here. Like Barbara Heinrich's book, I was being Nickel & Dimed. It was simply not worth my time & resources to continue my employment. Unlike Barbara Heinrich, I am not a white woman of moderate or great wealth. I am a lower middle class black woman with the barest of means.

I feel the need to use this space as my blog on racism & injustice that is unceasing to this very day. It's nice to watch black commentators on cable news who seem to be above most instances of racial disparity. It was great to hear the incredulous comments on how "articulate" Barack Obama is. As if! Is there any wonder that blacks & hispanics are failing in this education "system"?

My son's school is "diversified" meaning there are a multitude of races in the student body. The instructors are either asian or white. Where is the diversity in the staff? His asian teacher really did not relate well to him. She said he was in danger of failing after barely the first month of school. I got the feeling that she really did not care for him very much. That was confirmed when she told my husband something during a parent/teacher conference. She told him that it was almost like my son did not have a brain. She said he seemed to never think. Who would say something like that if that's what they really thought? What kind of professional is this?

It seems to me that since I am black there are people who disregard me as a person. They are rude, insensitive, & almost barbaric in their attitude towards me. Teachers have made comments to me simply because they felt they could. If only they knew just how literate I am, they would choose their words carefully. I know how to express my thoughts eloquently & I love the pen & paper. It has not been difficult for me to voice my concerns in writing when it is needed. Hence, this blog. Racism & blocked opportunities should be shared with all of humanity. IssueBlack has dealt with yet another issue. Until next time!

Black Men Who Deserve Credit

I love the fact that I can be proud out loud. This blog will be my expressions of all facets of blackness. The pain, elation, joy, sorrow, disappointment, & every emotion that this race may face. Yes, we all are humans who feel or at least we should. If we do not then we are simply animals with the instinct of survival. Sometimes it feels like the world is uncaring & devoid of all emotion. This is the realness of life that I am relaying to you. I may start another blog that deals with trite stuff. IssueBlack is my first step into activism. Let's see where it goes from here.

Today, I will keep things kind of brief by just talking about a few good black men. My husband, Tim Taylor, is a wonderful man who I do not give enough appreciation to. He really has helped share in the role of caretaker when our two kids are ill. When times are tough for me, he looks for ways to make it better. Although we are young, neither one of us runs the streets. We try to spend time together but the computer beckons us both. At least we know what one another is up to. He is someone that I believe I will grow old with. He loves me for who I am. I would be a single mother without him taking full responsibility. I love the fact that I am not. It's hard enough raising two kids together. I do not want to imagine doing it alone.

My father, Wendell Harper, is an extraordinary reporter that works at KPFA. He has always instilled black pride & recognition of my culture in me. I love my history because I know all facets of it. There is a reason that I picked Egypt to feature on this website. It is just one of the many historical pieces of evidence that hints at Africa's buried past. The history of great royalty was provided to me through the various books on Africa that my dad had. He is a man of great knowledge & wisdom. I am proud to be a beautiful black woman because of him.

Barack Obama Is Black Enough for Moi

Barack Obama is a blast not from the past but from the present into the future. I am not fond of the days when I thought there would never be a black president in my time. As a black person, how daunting is that? I am elated that a man who shares the same birthday as me has more than a fighting chance. Why is it that so many blacks want to fight against such a great opportunity such as this? Complaints of his lack of blackness are empty & baseless. If you have not made a contribution to the upliftment of blacks, then how black are you? Do you go out of your way to ensure that every black person you know has a better life? Many of us have not served our whole community with our kindness & generosity. We have only helped those few that we know & maybe an occassional stranger. Why do we expect Barack Obama to effect change for blacks immediately? He can change the viewpoints of so many just by being elected. I want my son to know that being president is a tangible dream now. Even if his skin is dark & he does not look white.

Michelle Obama represents the kind of black person that I have always aspired to be. At least her persona & image is what I wanted to project to others. Strong, beautiful, & natural black woman who is ready to conquer & defeat the negative stereotypes. She is proof that Barack Obama makes intelligent choices in his life. I believe in the characteristics of each astrological sign & he is a Leo like me. I am generous, firm, loyal, & fair. No man or woman wants to incur my wrath though! I have the most powerful roar when the lion in me is provoked to emerge. Based on my personality, I know Barack Obama will be the best choice.

His skin is fair but so is his disposition towards all of the races. Unlike every white president, Barack Obama will be able to identify with blacks. He will not ignore our issues once he can resolve the ones that plague every race. You know, the economy, the war, the oil crisis, & the recession to name a few. This guy is coming after George Bush. He is the designated clean up man who will be left to sort through this mess. Give him a chance to clean the mess before you search so ardently for the dirt.
